Theosophy . the cosmic principle according to which each person is rewarded or punished in one incarnation according to that person’s deeds in the previous incarnation. 3. fate; destiny. predestination, predetermination, lot, kismet. 4. the good or bad emanations felt to be generated by someone or something: Lets get out of here. This place has bad karma.
all of these definitions have one thing in common: they show that karma exists on its own, and that something that we do or don’t do in some way affects it.  ok, so if i’m understanding this correctly, my actions in this life and and in previous lives (if you believe in that sort of thing), directly affect what happens to me in my current plane of existence.  seems to make sense.  kind of related to the physics principle of equal and opposite reactions.  the universe wants balance and makes that happen in even the smallest of situations.  i get that.  so why then do bad things happen to good people?  how does karma fit in to those situations?  does that mean that these people have committed grievous errors and are deserving of the bad things that occur?  what if they are unaware of said errors? then how does karma remain justified?  in the bible it says that GOD doesn’t give us anything that we can’t handle.  who is it that defines what one can handle, for as much as any of us would like, we can’t just go call/text GOD and ask.  we can pray and ask for help, guidance, strength, wisdom, etc - and what if those prayers go unanswered?  or what if we can’t hear the answer? like not seeing the forest for the trees.  i’m lost.  if you look at my life in comparison to members of my family, current friends, past friends, acquaintances, whatever - where is my bad karma coming from?  i know that i’m not a bad person.  why do i get dumped on anytime things start to fall into place?  yes, in the end things will work out, as GOD’s will is done.  what if i don’t make it that long?  what if my end is near? the buddha said that life is suffering.  and the root cause is desire.  seems to me that i’m suffering for desiring happiness.  that’s all i want.  a reliable car; a decent place to live; a job i don’t hate; food in my belly; pay my bills on time; be able to see my family EVER.  love would be nice but i’m not pushing.  so what am i missing?  i seem to have some modicum of wisdom and i know that i am intelligent.  why can’t i find peace or happiness?  is that so much to ask? i’m soooooo tired…..of it all.
